NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prime Minister Philip Davis breaking his silence on recent action taken by gas station owners last month. The PM says retailers didn’t have to stop selling diesel to get his attention.

As petroleum retailers continue to push for a 30 cents per gallon, Prime Minister Philip Davis is breaking his silence on the issue.

Petroleum retailers say the current margins aren’t sustainable.

Meanwhile, the government maintains it will not do anything that will result in an increase at the pumps.

Two weeks ago, some retailers temporarily stopped selling diesel in hopes that government would address their issues, but that didn’t happen.

The association says the current margins are making it hard for their businesses to survive.

Today, Davis says the government is looking at finding a way to assist the retailers as best they can.

As inflationary rates start to fall, the prime minister says eventually it will pass on to consumers.

In the meantime, the prime minister believes there’s still room for businesses to make it.
