GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Following that landmark ruling on citizenship, Prime Minister Philip Davis saying paternity tests will be necessary in some instances.

Speaking on the sidelines of the groundbreaking ceremony for a new hospital in Grand Bahama, Davis says there are some presumptions that will first have to be fleshed out

It’s been said the ruling will affect around 1,500 people who have applied for Bahamian citizenship.

Moving forward, Davis says once an individual can demonstrate his father is his father and is Bahamian, he will not need to apply to become a citizen.

But he says the matter isn’t topping his government’s legislative agenda.
