HAITI – Police clashed with gunmen on Monday in Solino, one of the few remaining areas of port-au-prince not controlled by gangs.

Haitian authorities say the community has been under siege since Thursday, with residents fleeing amid threats from the gang coalition “Viv Ansanm.”

Haiti’s national police have regained control of some areas but continue to pursue gang members.

Prime Minister Garry Conille held an emergency meeting and ordered the redeployment of elite police and military units to combat the escalating violence. The U.N. reports that over 4,200 people have fled their homes, with many seeking refuge in overcrowded shelters.
