NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A negligence lawsuit against the police force will go to trial, a judge has ruled.

Precious Thompson-Curry was  shot by a policeman while in her yard at Amos Ferguson Street on June 21, 2021. The officer had fired at a fleeing suspect after he allegedly pointed a gun at him.

Attorney Christina Galanos argued that since the Commissioner  of Police had apologized to Thompson-Curry about the incident,  the issue of liability had been proven.

However, Senior Justice Deborah Fraser found that these were distinct issues, and the claim for negligence would be determined at a trial.
