Police Report Prison Break In Central Haiti

HAITI – Inmates broke out of a prison in Saint-Marc, Haiti on Friday, as the country battles ongoing gang violence.

Police reported the break and suspect guards may have been complicit, following reports that prison staff went on strike demanding better treatment.

Gunfire was reportedly heard near the prison, with videos showing smoke and fire.

Authorities haven’t confirmed how many inmates escaped and are seeking public assistance.

This marks the third prison break in Haiti this year.
