NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prosecutors are accusing four policeman of trying to extort money from a man accused of stealing $1.475 million from an armed car.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prosecutors are accusing four policeman of trying to extort money from a man accused of stealing $1.475 million from an armed car.

Corporal Chavez Sawyer, Constable Benson Miller, Sergeant Nelson Miller and Sergeant Deangelo Rolle are accused of demanding money from Akeil Holmes on November 3, 2023.

The men denied the allegations at their arraignment before Assistant Chief Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux.

Bail was set at $8,000 each and their trial is set for April 7 to 11.

The officers have been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the case.
