VATICAN – The new Pope is making peace his mission.
U.S.-born pope Leo XIV, just a week into the job, says he’s ready to mediate in global conflicts and is offering the Vatican as neutral ground for dialogue.
Speaking to Eastern Catholic leaders on Wednesday, Leo said war is never inevitable, and that weapons “must be silenced.”
He’s already spoken with Ukraine’s president Vlodymir Zelenskyy, offering to help facilitate peace talks and is calling for ceasefires in Gaza, Ukraine and between India and Pakistan.
