UNITED KINGDOM – Prime Minister Liz Truss resigns after six weeks on the job.

Her short-lived time in office was brought down by an economic program that muddied financial markets and pushed up the cost of living costs for voters and enraged her own party.

Her conservative party – which holds the majority in parliament- will have to elect a new leader by October 28th although they are two years out from a general election.

Outside of the Prime Minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street, Truss accepted that she lost the faith of her party, in effect becoming the shortest-serving Prime Minister in British history.
