NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 27-year-old corrections officer is accused of trying to break into Solomon’s Yamacraw two days in a row.

Prosecutors say Franklee Laphaeile first attempted to break into the business on August 23.

Police arrested the prison officer on August 24th after he allegedly tried to break into the store again. On that occasion, police allegedly found him with a headlamp, screwdrivers, hammers and wrenches.

Laphaeile pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted shopbreaking and possession of instruments for burglary at his arraignment before Magistrate Shaka Serville today.

He was granted $7,000 bail and returns to court for trial on December 2nd.

While the case is pending, Laphaeile will be suspended from duty and placed on half-pay.
