Prosecutors Appeal 10-Year Sentence for 2021 Shooting
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prosecutors have appealed the 10-year sentence handed to a man who shot a woman outside of her home in 2021.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prosecutors have appealed the 10-year sentence handed to a man who shot a woman outside of her home in 2021.
Mike Philius could get a stiffer sentence if the appellate court agrees that he didn’t get enough time for his crime.
He received the sentence following a conviction for the attempted murder of Joycelyn Similien.
On August 25, 2021, Similien was accosted by two men, one of them Philius, when she went outside after her car alarm sounded.
Philius shot her in the hip and the bullet fractured her pelvic bone.
