NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prosecutors are appealing a directed acquittal in the case of a man accused of killing his infant daughter.

Blounard Vedrine was tried for  manslaughter in connection with the death of his five-month-old daughter, Berlindia Vedrine.

She died on September 6, 2013. According to an autopsy, she died from blunt force trauma to the head.

The autopsy also revealed that the baby had suffered broken ribs weeks before she died.

Justice Dale Fitzpatrick directed jurors to acquit Vedrine at the close of the prosecution’s case.
