State Public Service Minister Pia Glover-Rolle made the revelation during the weekly press briefing at the Office of The Prime Minister.

She said those hires are up for review to ensure the proper procedure was followed.

She also revealed that in the last eight weeks, around 40 individuals on New Providence and the Family Islands were hired but are sitting home collecting salaries because there’s simply nowhere to place them.

She also announced that public sector hires have been halted and are expected to resume by July 2022.

The Minister of State also touches on plans to introduce a contributory pension plan, noting the current plan cannot take on any new hires.
