NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This week’s 44th Caribbean Heads of Government Meeting is attracting not only regional leaders but also top officials from across the world.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as an American delegation will be flying down for the 44th CARICOM heads of government meeting.

Fred Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs, says the main draw for international parties is the opportunity to discuss the crisis in Haiti.

When asked about concerns that the presence of these North American powerhouses may shift dynamics among regional leaders, the foreign affairs minister says the beauty of the meetings is the fact that leaders can get to understand each other on a personal level.

Mitchell also explains what he believes is motivating the North American leaders.
