NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Residents in western New Providence passionately opposed to a proposal by Vakis Limited to transform the old, Mosko home into a commercial attraction.

Developers call it the Rock Point project. The proposed project would include beach cabanas, a restaurant, pools and zip lines that extend across the property.

It was also where some scenes from the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball were shot.

Golden Girl Pauline Davis Thompson, former politician Samuel “Bookie” Johnson, Senator Michela Barnett-Ellis, and spouse of former prime minister Dr. Hubert Minnis, Patricia Minnis, were among the homeowners speaking out against the project.

They say they have noise, traffic, security, parking, and environmental concerns.

Engineer on the project Lambert Knowles, says they don’t believe the project will hurt the community.

The project is not a done deal, town planning committee chairman Keenan Johnson says its a process.
