Restaurant Workers Charged with Stealing Customer’s Bag

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A magistrate gave two workers at a Chinese Restaurant a second chance after they faced charges concerning theft from a customer.

A patron at Golden Star Noodle House left her bag at the eatery on April 2.

The restaurant’s manager, Sandy Cunningham, stole the bag that contained a Bahamian passport, $800 cash and jewelry.

On the same date, Cunningham and her coworker Elaine Laing, accepted $30 from Moss for the return of the passport.

Senior Magistrate Shaka Serville ordered Cunningham to be of good behavior for one year and to complete 500 hours of community service.

If she doesn’t, she’ll have to pay $3,500 in fines or spend six months in prison and Laing has to stay out of trouble for six months to avoid paying a $500 fine or spending one month behind bars.
