NASSAU, BAHAMAS – You might remember Comrade Vernon Pinder from our coverage of Veterans’ Month last year.

He was in good spirits and excited to have guests when we visited him at his home on Thursday afternoon.

He was especially excited to see the chair of the British Legion Bahamas Branch, Adina Munroe-Charlow.

Of course, much of the care the legion is able to share with the veterans is made possible by the poppy purchases in the month of November.

We asked Comrade Pinder what he would say to those who hesitate when they see the poppy tables.

Last year, we rode in the vehicle with the nonagenarian on his way to the service on Remembrance Sunday.

When we ask if he’s looking forward to this year’s service on November 12th, it’s obvious how much the day and service of recognition means to him.
