Ricardo Knowles Unveils New Collection at the Current

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Baha Mar has an objective to highlight local artisans in the community exposing their undeniable talents to a broader audience while alluring guest to the fact that we have more to offer than sun sand and sea.

Thursday evening Our News attended the kick off of “Transforming Spaces 2025” where they debuted a collection of art by a famed local impressionist painter.

Art lovers came together at The Current Gallery in Baha Mar to celebrate the official unveiling of “Sepia.”

It’s an exhibition curated by Ricardo Knowles, better known as Cardo.

The striking artwork endearing all in the space, welcomed by the rhythmic sounds of a live jazz band and an assortment of spirited beverages, guests browsed Cardo’s latest portraits, featuring a palette of black white and reddish brown.

“Last year we showed Ricardo’s show urban light so one of the pieces were moonshine which was similar to this palette that he’s using right now in Sepia so and it was crazy because everyone wanted that one painting and i was like cardo we need to do a show again.”

The color contrast of each painting boldly depicting their individual representations of the artist’s personal life and lineage.

“He was happy to tell kind of like this story of this connection that he had with his sister so you’ll see her in several of the paintings then a couple other ones with family there’s a piece called Barbara’s box where his dad is saying this box is for Barbara nobody is to touch it but basically make sure the box get to Barbara and so there’s a lot of little family antidotal stories that he is telling but also he recently traveled to Japan so you’ll see some of the Japanese influence.”
