UNITED STATES – Junior college prospect Leano Rolle has committed to the Missouri State Bears in Conference USA, taking the next step in his collegiate basketball career.

Rolle chose Missouri State over offers from programs including Green Bay, Nebraska-Omaha, Florida State, Louisiana Tech, UCF, Lasalle, Baylor, Georgia Southern, Old Dominion and Temple.

The 6′ 7″ wing garnered national attention after his sophomore season at Southwest Mississippi Community College where he averaged 14.5 points, 7 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block per game while shooting just over 50 percent from the field.

Rolle was also named ALL-MACCC honorable mention and was ranked as the number-60 Juco player in the nation.

Rolle is also the cousin of Philadelphia 76ers star rookie VJ Edgecombe.

Head coach Cuonzo Martin leads Missouri State who advanced to the semifinals of the C-USA tournament after upsetting top-seeded Liberty in the quarterfinals.

Track & Field

It’s a long track and field season but still many reasons to compete. Young athletes had another opportunity as St. Barnabas Parish Anglican Church Men hosted their fourth annual youth track and field classic.

The event featured the under-seven division all the way up to under-20, with a full slate of athletes from various local track clubs looking to get additional marks as the season comes to a close.

Organizers say the competition is about more than just medals and times, but the event also serves as a fundraiser to support programs within the St. Barnabas Parish community.
