NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Lieutentant Commander of the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, Delvonne Duncombe, speaking to members of the Rotary Club of East Nassau on the topic of “Discipline In Conflict Prevention: Lessons From Military Training and Youth Programs.”

Duncombe says young people don’t understand the different stages of development, and without understanding, emotions run unchecked, leading to conflict. To this end, he says, there’s no better place to look than to the military when talking about discipline.

Duncombe is also an author and has been active in a number of youth programs throughout his career.

He says what he finds effective is a concept he calls “breaking and building”.
