NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Carnival season is officially upon us and the carnival bands have begun hosting extravagant event launches.

We received an invite from Bahamas Masqueraders for their launch which took place on Friday at the baseball stadium.
In honor of their 10th year celebration this year’s theme is ‘RAMAJAY’ which means to sing and make music.
Now I have never participated in a road march and I’ve always questioned why the costumes were so expensive.
I’m sure many of you have the same question and I got the answer.
With four lead costume designers in total, I spoke with the group’s youngest designer who told me stepping into this role was a dare handed to him by a family member.
This year’s carnival festivities kick off in May.
