Island Basketball to Launch Pilot Season

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Powered by Ballin’ by da Beach, the Island Basketball League will allow boys and girls from K4 to grade 8 a safe, structured environment to learn the fundamentals of the game and life skills. 

The league is founded by Jurelle Mullings and will be led by Mullings and Manny Adderley, as well as several accomplished local basketball coaches and will host 600 young athletes.

It will tip off with a jamboree on October 9th and will run all through spring. 

The league has the full backing of the Bahamas Basketball Federation, and if you’re interested, you can go to Ballin’ by da Beach’s website or on their Facebook page and sign up.

Golf

The Bankers’ Golf Tournament was held on Saturday at the Royal Blue Golf Club at Baha Mar Resort. 

Two teams each from Fidelity, Global Sun Integration Management, RBC and the Central Bank were able to get in some action before the weather shut things down early. 

A team from Global Sun consisting of Kareema Bowe, Cleveland musgrove, Larry Wilson, and Christopher Adderley claimed the team trophy. 

A team from Fidelity that included Antonio Saunders, Nathelee Tynes, Andre White and Francis Adderley came second and the second Gloal Sun team, with big Mike Wilson, Driskell Rolle, Larry Wilson and Stephen Johnson came third. 

Prizes were also given out to women and men for closest to the cup and longest drive. 

Baseball

Team Bahamas lost their second straight game in the Panam u-23 pre-qualifier in la Chorerra, Panama, falling 7-2 to the USVI. 

Kashon Conliffe scored on a single by Zachary Gibson, and Jaiden Cartwright scored on a fielder’s choice. 

Pheron Charlton went 1-2 with a single out of the leadoff spot, and Giovante Tomlins got the loss on the mound, giving up four hits and four earned runs in seven innings. 

With the loss, they’re 0-2 in the tournament.
