NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The reopening of Sandals Royal Bahamian put 900 employees back to work – among them, some outstanding women.

As we wrap up women’s history month, Jasmin Brown catches up with a few women excelling in top posts typically filled by men.

From a rooms supervisor to a divemaster, to a receiving clerk, to chefs that oversee entire kitchens. The women who hold these posts at Sandals Royal Bahamian admit it’s no easy task.

But they’ve hit the ground running ever since the West Bay Street resort reopened in January following a more than $50 million renovation.

Dive-master Tarjanique Ferguson, Rooms Supervisor Tamara Fowler, and Sous Chef Deandra Dee Wood were among the newer hires.

In addition to the newer staff, long-time staff members also returned to work to resume roles not often filled by women.

Natasha Bethel is one example, as she has risen in the company to oversee one of the largest kitchens on the property, after 21 years at Sandals.
