NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Sands says whether the uptick in cases was caused by the General Election or the failure of those in quarantine to adhere to Covid 19 protocols, the situation is too dire to lose focus.

He called on health officials to take action on the family islands.

44 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed on Tuesday. Half of those cases are on the family islands, including Eleuthera which reported 13 new cases.

Sands supports plans for free Covid 19 testing as he believes residents’ inability to afford pricy PCR tests is pushing many to get rapid antigen tests with no follow up testing.

Sands says the new administration must also get serious about tightening restrictions despite being new to office.
