ST. VINCENT – Authorities in the Eastern Caribbean are urgently searching for two individuals believed to be us citizens after a yacht was hijacked by three escaped prisoners from Grenada.

The Royal Grenada Police Force said they were following leads that indicated the occupants of the yacht may have been harmed.

The missing individuals, identified as Ralph Hendry and Kathy Brandel, were experienced cruisers and members of the Salty Dawg Sailing Association.

The yacht, named Simplicity, was found abandoned off a beach in St Vincent, with signs of violence onboard.

Caribbean Loopnews reports that family members of the missing individuals have met with authorities. Grenadian authorities the escaped prisoners have since been apprehended in St Vincent.
