NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Residents in a shantytown located in the Tall Pines constiuency are still picking up what’s left of their homes following a fire that destroyed some twenty homes about two weeks ago.

When Our News team visited the scene Tuesday, we noticed that residents had begun cleaning up the area moving heavy debris to one side.

One of the residents says she was at church when the fire started on February 5th and rushed home as fast as she could to save important documents.

Police determined that foul play was not suspected and the fire began at one of the front houses which was being used as a restaurant.

Sainfora says she has nothing left and currently sleeps on the floor of a friend.

She says while she would like to rebuild she does not want to get in any problems.
