“I started recording at the age of 12, and when we started doing gospel reggae concerts and gospel dancehall, it was something that was frowned upon.”

In fact, he recently launched his twentieth album, Find Me Here.
The event was held at Bahamas Harvest Church and powered by ALIV.

He shared the stage with local and international gospel artists, all of whom say they have felt the impact of his influence.

Fellow Trinidad and Tobago artist, Positive, recalls watching Gardner perform alongside Lieutenant Stitchie and Papa San as a young man.

He says their tenacity broke a glass ceiling, making them pioneers in the genre.

“Because of guys like Sherwin, it’s the reason why we have the courage and the vigor to pursue our dreams in Caribbean gospel music. To see what God has been doing in his life for so many years, not just blessing Find Me Here, but him entirely as an artist, musician, and minister—has been a blessing.”

Later in his career, Sherwin’s song Find Me Here went viral.

That’s when artists Kateri Bluford and Kelontae Gavin discovered his music.

“I just got put on to Sherwin, and just to hear his music and the heart behind what he writes, you can really feel where he is in his walk.”

“Oh my God, I was excited! In the States, Sherwin was blowing up on social media with the song Something Good Gonna Happen This Year, and I Am Grateful That I Made It Here was blowing up too! I was already a fan, and to get a call from him, or should I say, a message, a DM, I was freaking out!”

Having a career that spans decades is no easy feat, but Sherwin Gardner has managed to produce music that impacts generations.

“I always wanted to be able to accomplish major things from the island, to encourage others that you don’t have to move, you don’t have to go anywhere. You just have to trust God and have faith, and you’ll be able to move mountains. He will do it for you.”
