NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Some of the island’s 800 miles of roads have proper sidewalks for pedestrians and some do not.

Francis Clarke, senior civil engineer in the Ministry of Works, said the ministry has an ongoing pedestrian safety program in place to identify exiting sidewalks that are in need of repairs.

Jermaine Delancey, senior highway inspector, said if you believe your area is in need of a sidewalk, you can submit a request for approval.

However, he added he believes sidewalks should be everywhere as it is a matter of safety to keep pedestrians out of the streets.
