NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The incremental rate increase soon to come at BPL has many consumers searching for ways to reduce their monthly bills. On Tuesday, we mentioned easy swaps like changing your lightbulbs, but tonight we’re talking big picture changes, like switching to solar power.

When the prime minister announced rate increases for BPL customers on Tuesday morning, renewable energy and solar power, in particular, was featured heavily as a solution.

A choice that former Director for Energy and Environment with The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Federation, and current National Climate Change Committee Member, Deborah Deal, echoes as a long-term solution for Bahamian energy woes.

Deal references the Babcock Ranch in Florida  as an excellent case study for those unfamiliar with solar farms.

And of course, you don’t have to wait for BPL to be powered by solar to see the difference. You can start with your own home or business.
