SOUTHERN, BAHAMAS – Residents in the southern islands are now bracing for a potential storm that could be headed their way in the coming days.

Meteorologists placing the islands of Acklins, Crooked island, Long Cay, Samana Cay, Ragged Island, Mayaguana, and Inagua under a Tropical Storm Watch.

As weather conditions on the island begin to deteriorate, Island Administrator for Acklins and Crooked Island Preston Cooper says preparations are ongoing.

On the island of Mayaguana preparation plans are also underway.

Over the past few days the country has seen adverse weather conditions. The system now moving south has also produced heavy rainfall on the island of San Salvador.

Overall the local leaders say they are not worried.
