USA – Southwest Airlines faces a historic $140 million fine from the U.S. Department of Transportation for its 2022 operational meltdown, where over 16,900 flights were canceled during a crucial holiday travel week.

This penalty, 30 times larger than any previous airline fine in U.S. history, aims to set a new standard with the major to compensate affected passengers.
