NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Unforgettable moments for members of The Bahamas’ Special Olympics Team, as they prepare for the Special Olympics 2022 USA Games.

Our Kristina Dragovich speaks with some of the athletes before the games this weekend.

Austin Green will represent The Bahamas in bowling. He recalls having to train on his own during the pandemic.

Stephen Russell will also compete in the games in the sport of bocce. While its similar to bowling, Russell says it comes easily, and he’s looking to make The Bahamas proud in the sport.

It will be a magical experience for many of the athletes, according to National Director, Gilbert Williams. But he says none of it would have been possible without corporate sponsors and donations.

The athletes say they’re also looking at the big picture, and how Special Olympics athletes are supported here at home.
