NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Twelve-year-old, Lyford Cay International school student,  Aarav Balani, won the  27th Annual Bahamas National Spelling Bee last weekend.

“Scripps” refers to the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee, held in the United States.

The seventh grader tells us how one prepares for a spelling bee may not be what you’d expect!

And he says he couldn’t have done it without his support team.

Four-time Bahamas National Spelling Bee Champion Roy Seligman, also a Lyford Cay International School student, tied for fourth place in the 93rd Scripps Competition back in 2021.

Balani had this to say when we asked how his practice may change leading up to the famous competition.
