U.S.A. – Chavez Young and Lucius Fox are with new clubs this season and are looking to work their way onto a  big-league roster.

Young opted for free agency last offseason and signed with the Milwaukee Brewers.

He will begin the season with the triple-A Nashville Sound.

Fox signed a free agent deal with the Chicago White Sox in February, the fifth team of his MLB career.

He was assigned to the triple-a Charlotte Knights.

CARIFTA

The Grand Bahama Port Authority continued its contribution to the development of youth athletes in Grand Bahama and made a substantial donation to both the CARIFTA Aquatics and athletics teams preparing for competition next weekend.

Basketball

VJ Edgecombe was named the state of New York’s Gatorade high school player of the year for the second consecutive year.

The five-star Baylor commit was also named one of three finalists for the national player of the year.

Edgecombe led Luhi to a 21-4 record, averaging just over 17 points per game. Earlier this week, he was also named to team world for the Nike hoop summit in April.

Updating Bahamians in the NCAA Tournament, Frederick King and the Creighton Bluejays defeated Sammy Hunter and Akron Zips, 77-60 in the opening round.

AJ Storr and the Wisconsin Badgers will face James Madison Friday at 9:40 pm in their opening-round matchup.
