ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES – St. Vincent and The Grenadines intensifies leprosy surveillance after its detection in neighboring islands.

St. Lucia and Barbados report the disease for the first time in years, with St. Lucia witnessing a 120% increase in new cases from 2020 to 2023.

The health ministry reassured the public of leprosy’s limited contagiousness and effective treatment.

While St. Vincent and The Grenadines recorded no cases since 2019, the ministry emphasized early diagnosis and treatment.
