Strachan, Gardiner Advance to 200m Semis

SCOTLAND, KINGDOM – Team Bahamas will have two sprinters competing in the 200-metre semifinals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Olympic champion Steven Gardiner made a comfortable start to his campaign, winning his preliminary heat in 20.55 seconds to qualify automatically for the men’s semifinals.

On the women’s side, Anthonique Strachan also booked her place in the next round.

Strachan finished third in heat six in 23.18 seconds, advancing as one of the fastest non-automatic qualifiers.

Walcott Shines at the Plate, Chisholm in the Field

Sebastian Walcott is making up for lost time, and he’s doing it with one of the hottest bats in Minor League Baseball.

After missing the first half of the season, the Bahamian shortstop has returned to Double-A and immediately made an impact.

In a game that featured Texas Rangers Shortstop Corey Seager on a rehab assignment, Walcott stole the spotlight, going 2-for-4 with a double and the go-ahead three-run home run in the seventh inning.

Through his first 11 games since returning, Walcott has been sensational, hitting .395 with three home runs, three stolen bases, and a 1.191 OPS – numbers that reflect the impact he has made since his return.

Meanwhile, at the Major League level, Jazz Chisholm Jr. continues to make his mark with his glove.

Even without a hit in the Yankees’ matchup against the Chicago White Sox, Chisholm provided highlight-reel defense, making a pair of impressive plays at second base to help New York secure a 3-2 victory.

The win extends the Yankees’ hot streak, with New York now winning 11 of its last 15 games as they look to complete the series sweep tonight.

Jones, Liberty Extend Win Streak

Jonquel Jones made her presence felt as the New York Liberty returned to action following the WNBA All-Star Break.

The Bahamian All-Star set the tone early, helping the Liberty secure a hard-fought 113-109 road victory over the Los Angeles sparks.

Jones finished with nine points, five rebounds, and six assists, providing an all-around performance as New York had to hold off a second-half comeback attempt by Los Angeles.

The Liberty built a double-digit advantage before watching the Sparks take a nine-point lead in the third quarter, but New York responded in the closing minutes to escape with the win.

The victory improves the Liberty to 16-12 on the season, keeping them within striking distance of the Indiana Fever for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
