NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of sexually abusing and impregnating his 11-year-old stepdaughter will be tried this summer.

The man, whose name has been withheld to protect the minor’s identity, is expected to be tried in August on five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a dependent.

He learned his trial date after denying the allegations at his arraignment before Senior Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson today.

The accused remains in custody.

Meanwhile, the child’s mother, who’s on bail, is expected to be arraigned in the case on May 26.

She faces charges of failing to report the abuse of a minor, aggravated causing harm and performing an illegal abortion.
