GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Queen Conch is a beloved local delicacy and a significant cultural symbol.

However, due to high demand from both locals and tourists, these iconic shellfish are now listed as “threatened” under the endangered species act in the U.S.

At Blue Action Lab’s Conservation Cove near Coral Vita, Grand Bahama, people like operations manager Tony Johns, are dedicated to restoring conch populations with their mobile conch hatchery.

Johns, explains how it all begins.

And the care continues post-hatching.

But it doesn’t happen without the tender loving care of aquaculture technician, Lachelle Russell.
