The first race out the gate was the 4 by 400 meter mixed relay which unfortunately saw disappointment for Team Bahamas. The team made up of Steven Gardiner, Alonzo Russell, Shania Adderley and Shaunae Miller-Uibo would fall short, placing fourth in that race.

A pre-game show was held featuring younger athletes from the CARIFTA games and from around the world.

In one of the races a team was identified as Haiti-Bahamas All Star team.

In the statement from the b three a’s it explained that team Haiti was invited to compete at the pre-game show; however, they could not attend.

The statement said a club requested that members of his club make up a team to represent Haiti which was approved under the following conditions:

One, that the athletes be of Haitian nationality; two – the team seek sanctioning from the Haitian Athletic Federation to be represented under the Haitian flag and three – failure to meet the requirement of an all-Haitian member team should be named an “unattached” team.

The federation explained that at no time did they agree to a team being named a Haitian-Bahamas All-Star team.

Jonquel Jones is ready to return to the court for her New York Liberty.

She will make her preseason debut against the Chicago Sky at the Wintrust arena on Tuesday.

JJ started off last season slowly, deferring to teammates Sabrina Ionescu and Brianna Stewart as she averaged 11 points and 8 rebounds per game.

When the postseason came around, the team leaned heavily on her and her stats jumped to 17 points and nearly 12 rebounds per game as her team made a run to the finals where they were beaten by the Las Vegas Aces 3-1.
