Team Bahamas Adds Two More Bronze Medals at CAC Games

THE CARIBBEAN – Team Bahamas continued its success at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games on Wednesday, adding two more bronze medals to its growing total through athletics and sailing.

The first medal came on the track, where Brenden Vanderpool captured bronze in the men’s pole vault after a strong performance against a competitive regional field. Vanderpool displayed consistency throughout the competition to secure a place on the podium and add another international medal to his career.

Fellow Bahamian Tyler Cash also represented the country in the event, competing alongside Vanderpool in the men’s pole vault final.

Out on the water, M.J. Nash and Patrick Tomlinson delivered the Bahamas’ second medal of the day, claiming bronze in the two-person mixed dinghy competition.

The sailing event was decided over multiple races, with final placings determined by cumulative points. Nash and Tomlinson produced a series of strong finishes throughout the regatta to earn their place on the podium and add to Team Bahamas’ medal haul.

The two bronze medals continue a successful Games for the Bahamas, with athletes reaching the podium across multiple sporting disciplines as competition continues in Santo Domingo.

World Athletics U20 Champs

Zion Davis is just one race away from a World Under-20 Championships medal.

The Bahamian sprinter advanced to the men’s 400 meters final after finishing third in his semifinal in 45.86 seconds, earning one of the qualifying spots in the championship race.

Davis opened the competition with a strong performance in the preliminary round, running 46.73 seconds to finish second in his heat and secure his place in the semifinals.

He will now compete for a world title when the final is held tonight at 11:53 p.m. local time.

In the women’s 400 meters, Keyezra Thomas advanced out of the opening round after clocking 54.33 seconds, but her campaign came to an end in the semifinals, where she ran 57.84 seconds to finish 26th overall.

Fellow Bahamian Alexis Roberts posted 56.16 seconds in the women’s 400 meters, while Javano Bridgewater ran 47.54 seconds in the men’s event. Both were eliminated in the opening round.

In the men’s high jump, Justin Hanna cleared 2.10 meters but fell just short of the 2.14-meter qualifying standard needed to advance to the final.

With several Bahamians completing their championships, attention now turns to Davis as he looks to capture a World Under-20 medal for the Bahamas.
