Team Bahamas in Lead After Day One of CARIFTA Aquatics

WILLEMSTAD, CURACAO – Team Bahamas is in the lead after day one of the 2023 CARIFTA Aquatics Championships were completed in Curacao on Thursday.

The Bahamas has 262 points, followed by the Cayman Islands with 175 points and Barbados in third with 135 points.

The first gold for Team Bahamas was captured by Jaylah Threadgill in the Girls 11-12 200 Meter Breaststroke.

She was followed by Trace Russell who won the Boys 11-12 200 Meter Breaststroke.

Other notable gold medal performances for Team Bahamas include David Singh on the Boys 11-12 50 Meter Breastroke, Emmanuel Gadson in the Boys 15-17 200 Meter Breaststroke, and the Boys and Girls 11-12 400 Meter Freestyle Relay Teams among others.

Day two will begin at 9:00am Friday with several preliminaries for the 200 Meter Freestyle races, 50 Meter Fly races, 100 Meter Backstroke races among others. The finals for those will be in session four which will begin at 6:00pm.
