PARIS, FRANCE – Team Bahamas got started with athletics competition at the Paris Olympics on Friday.

Ken Mullings was first up for Team Bahamas in a stacked 22-man field for the decathlon.

At the end of day one, he’s 13th overall with 4255 points, 395 points behind the leader.

His day began with the 100m where he finished 7th in heat 3 in 10.60 seconds to earn 952 points.

Next was the long jump where he finished 11th with a leap of 7.36m for 900 points and he closed out the morning session in the shot put, 12th at 14.49m for 740 points.

In the high jump, he finished fifth in Group B with a clearance of 2.02m for 822 points.

Finally, in the 400m munnings finished fourth in heat two in 49.43 seconds for 841 points.

Team Bahamas continued in the field with Charisma Taylor in the triple jump and the opening round of the mixed 4x400m relay.

Competing in Group B, Taylor turned in a personal best jump of 14.01m to finish ninth, 15th overall in the field.

The mixed relay team of Alonzo Russell, Quincy Penn, Javonya Valcourt and Wendell Miller finished eighth in heat one 13th overall in 3:14.58 seconds.

Tomorrow, Mullings continues the decathlon with the 110m hurdles at 4:05am and the pole vault at 7:40am.

Rhanishka Gibbs will swim in the heats of the 50m free at 5am.
