Team Bahamas Returns with Over 100 Medals

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Team Bahamas returned home to much fanfare on Monday after obliterating the competition at the Goodwill Games over the weekend.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Team Bahamas returned home to much fanfare on Monday after obliterating the competition at the Goodwill Games over the weekend.

The kids had an early start arriving at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston just after 7am.

Once processing was complete, the 40-member team boarded their private Bahamasair charter with Youth Sports and Culture officials as well as officials from the Bahamas Aquatics Federation, parents and supporters.

Once landed at Lynden Pindling International Airport, the team was greeted by Acting Sports Minister Zane Lightbourne after being processed by immigration officials and then the Junkanoo fanfare begun where the team was greeted by Prime Minister Philip Davis on the outside.

This was followed by a brief ceremony in LPIA’s VIP Lounge.

Basketball

The Bahamas won the FIBA Pre-Olympic qualifiers on Sunday thanks to the efforts of a cast of NBA players, overseas professionals, and college standouts. 

Buddy Hield of the indiana pacers was one of the team’s leading performers averaging a hair under 20 points a game with five rebounds and three assists per game. 

Big man Deandre Ayton dominated the paint for Team Bahamas. He was effusive in his praise for his teammates.
