NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are looking into a shooting that killed a teen overnight.

According to Police Press Liasion Officer Chief Superintendent Chryslyn Skippings, shortly after 9 pm Saturday, Lazaretto Road residents heard gunshots in the area.

Those on scene say the victim is Welji Noel, a resident of the area.

While police are appealing to residents in the area to come forth and assist with the investigation, our news has learned the teen, who’s life was tragically cut short, was a member of the Roots Junkanoo group.

Roots Deputy Chairman Duane Ellis said Noel joined the group this year and remembers him as an enthusiastic member.
