NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two teenagers are charged with attempted murder and armed robbery in relation to the shooting of an off-duty policeman.

Prosecutors say Nathan Williams and Cosintino Gervais, who are both 18-years-old, shot Corporal 549 Patrick Kemp and robbed him of his car valued at $10,000.

The shooting and hold up happened outside a home on Roberts Drive in South Beach around 2am on August 13. Kemp remains hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

On the day of the incident, police allegedly found Gervais with a Glock .40 pistol and 10 unfired rounds of ammunition.

As a result, he faces a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.

Williams and Gervais made their initial court appearance before Acting Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain today.

They were not required to enter pleas to the charges and were denied bail.

They are expected to return to court on November 21 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment which will send their case to the Supreme Court.
