Tennessee Beat Out VJ, Baylor In Baha Mar Hoops Championship Game

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Baylor Bears fell to the Tennessee Volunteers 77-62 Friday night in the final of the Baha Mar Hoops college tournament. 

VJ Edgecombe had an efficient night scoring 20 points on 8 of 16 shooting and making 3 of 6 from long range, but it wasn’t enough to get the win. 

Chaz Lanier led Tennessee with 25 points. 

FIBA Americup
 The Bahamas Senior Men’s National Team fell to Cuba 76-62 in FIBA Americup 2024 group play. 

Tavario Miller led the team with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Rashad Davis kicked in 17 and 4 as well. 

Sports Month
Prime Minister Philip Davis welcomed the 2024 Bahamas Sports Hall of Fame class at Baha Mar’s Convention Center Friday night.

Over 30 athletes from many disciplines were personally and posthumously honored by Governor General Dame Cynthia Pratt and Sports Minister Mario Bowleg. 

The women’s softball team that won a bronze medal in the 1981 World Games was the centerpiece of Friday’s ceremony. 

The governor general was a key member of that team and was honored along with her teammates.
