NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Discipline, conflict resolution and leadership skills are just a few of the topics discussed during the Bahamas All Star Band’s Annual Retreat.

Dozens of guest speakers met a total of one hundred teens at the government high school auditorium to depart words of wisdom into the students that serve as a foundation for all of life’s journeys.

In partnership with the Rotary Club of East Nassau, president of the club, Kenrad Wilchcombe, says they’ve sponsored the band for several years, adding that the retreat is a crucial part of developing emotionally aware teens.

Aspects of the retreat also focused on mental health awareness, something the band’s Director of Flags, Denise Moncur, says they’ve strategically placed in the workshop to address issues like self esteem amongst the teens, particularly the females.

As we departed the event, it was evident that the teens were engaged, eager to participate in the remaining activities scheduled for the day.
