The Body of a 27-year-old Male Found Off Bethel Avenue

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The search for a 27-year-old man who was reported missing on Monday came to a tragic end on Thursday night after his body was discovered in bushes off Bethel Avenue.

Authorities have classified the incident as a suspected suicide, pending further investigation.

“Police are currently investigating a suspicious death in the area of Hastio Point Close just off Bethel Avenue. At approximately 7:30PM police control room received information that persons in this community found a male hanging from trees.”

“As a result officers from the Grove Police Station responded swiftly, and they met a male partially decomposed wearing dark colored clothing hanging from a tree with a black rope around his neck.”

A relative of Antonio Cartwright made the disturbing discovery of his body in bushes a short distance from the victim’s residence.

Neighbors at the scene told me that it was common for a particular family member to use the tracked area, which led to the discovery.

They also revealed that Cartwright frequently rode his skateboard in the vicinity.

On Sunday, residents reported seeing a skateboard, which they believed belonged to him, lying in the grass, raising questions about his whereabouts.

During a briefing on Thursday night, Inspector Jerard Culmer of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Public Affairs and Communications Department said an autopsy would be required to determine the time of death, given the condition of the body.

Police have currently classified the incident as a suspected suicide.

However, Inspector Culmer stressed that the autopsy will provide a definitive determination.

“Were there any additional wounds to the body? Again the body is partially decomposed so we can’t say at this time.”

Following the announcement of Cartwright’s death, Commonwealth Building Supplies, also known as CBS, released a statement expressing deep sadness over the untimely passing of their colleague.

The company extended its heartfelt condolences to Antonio Cartwright’s family during this difficult time.
