NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Grammy-winning artist Wyclef Jean has spent more than a decade cementing himself in Haiti’s political landscape.
Born in Port-au-Prince, he migrated to the United States as a child, with his family.
In the moments following his performance at the Nassau Paradise Island Wine and Food Festival Saturday, we spoke about the ongoing unrest.
He questioned what he calls the “narrow narratives” given by the media.
It was Wyclef, who earlier this year, called for the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry on the social media platform X.
He believes the solution should favor the majority with an end to the cycle of bondage and allow the Haitian people to take control of their destiny.
Through his music and outspokenness the artist who first introduced us to The Fugees and Lauren Hill, remains a strong global voice in support of the Haitian people.
