GRAND BAHAMA , BAHAMAS – The entire country continues to mourn the heartbreaking loss of five young women who died in separate tragedies over the weekend.

Among them was 26-year-old Nica Julien, a young mother whose life was cut short in a traffic accident on East Sunrise Highway in Grand Bahama.

As loved ones struggle to come to terms with her sudden death, they remember a woman whose smile and spirit left a lasting impression. Our Chinasa Outten has the story.

A mother, a daughter, and a friend.

At just 26 years old, Nica Julien’s life came to a tragic end early Sunday morning.

Police say Julien was believed to be heading home after a night of festivities when the vehicle she was driving collided with a utility pole on East Sunrise Highway.

She was rushed to the Rand Memorial Hospital but later died from her injuries.

In the hours that followed, social media became filled with an outpouring of love as friends, classmates, and family shared memories of the young woman they say could light up any room.

Former Free National Movement candidate Jay Philippe, who says he knew Julien for years, described her as someone who brought joy everywhere she went.

Jay Philippe – Friend of Nica Julien
“She was full of life, bubbly. You know, people often speak highly of people after they pass away, but I can honestly say, without a doubt, that she was loving and caring. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her upset.”

The loss has also been felt throughout the Pineridge community.

Member of Parliament Ginger Moxey offered her condolences to Julien’s family while calling on the nation to keep its young people in prayer.
