NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A scathing article posted in the Washington Post last week called The Bahamas “a smugglers paradise,” something that does not sit well with the Foreign Affairs Minister.

The article, which was published on July 27th, refers to last July’s failed smuggling operation that killed 17 Haitian migrants after the boat capsized in waters.

The foreign affairs minister blasted the article calling it an exaggeration.

Mitchell also defended the country’s stance on smuggling saying while the Bahamas is caught in the middle of both the United States and Haiti, it adheres to all international laws.
